David established his strategic advisory business, Cameron Brown Corporate Advisory Limited, in 2009 to provide high quality independent commercial advice to a wide range of public and private enterprises. The services David provides include commercial strategy, capital markets advice including capital raising and investor relations, acquisition, divestment and merger opportunities, capital structure, specialist advice to Directors and facilitation between parties.
Since establishing Cameron Brown Corporate Advisory, David has helped a wide range of clients of all sizes across a spectrum of industries.
Prior to establishing Cameron Brown Corporate Advisory, David was a Partner of Goldman Sachs JBWere and Co-head of Investment Banking at Goldman Sachs JBWere New Zealand. David was with Goldman Sachs JBWere for over 10 years during which time he played an instrumental role in the development of its Investment Banking business.
David has nearly 30 years’ experience in investment banking and corporate advisory and has advised some of New Zealand’s largest companies and public entities on strategy, capital raisings, NZX listing, investor relations, and asset sales and purchases. David has also held board positions on private and public companies.
His skills include project management, client relationship management, financial analysis (forecasting, accounting, due diligence, valuation, etc), capital structuring and capital raising, negotiation, strategy development and team leadership. He has experience across a wide range of industries including digital marketing, retail, waste processing, media, infrastructure, property and tourism.
David was also a director of Richmond Investments and Equity Partners No. 1 Infrastructure Limited.

- Advising the Executive of Waikato-Tainui Te Kauhanganui Incorporated with respect to the structuring of its additional investment in its wholly owned subsidiary, Tainui Group Holdings Limited;
- Advising to the owners of Yellow Pages Group with respect to a capital restructuring project and the ongoing performance of the business;
- Undertaking a Strategic Review for Eastland Community Trust related to its ownership of Eastland Group;
- Providing strategic advice to the Auckland City Council with respect to its waste strategy;
- Advising Pumpkin Patch on potential strategic growth opportunities including partnering opportunities;
- Providing commercial advice in relation to Port of Tauranga’s establishment of a joint venture with Kotahi, a subsidiary of Fonterra;
- Advising the Board of Seeka Kiwifruit Industries Limited with respect to growth opportunities and preparing a report on the performance of the business in response to shareholder criticism;
- Advising the Board of A2 on the purchase of the 50% of an Australian Joint Venture it did not already own;
- Advising Buller Electricity on the recapitalisation of, and acquisition of a majority shareholding in, Pulse Energy
- Working for Fisher & Paykel Finance on the potential acquisition of, or formation of a joint venture with, a private leasing financing business;
- Working with Sky Network Television on its capital raising and listing on the NZX and later on an issue of capital notes to New Zealand investors;
- Advising Natural Gas Corporation on the sale of its Electricity Generating Assets to Contact Energy and Trustpower;
- Working with Vector on its simultaneous takeover of Natural Gas Corporation, capital raising and listing on the New Zealand Stock Exchange;
- Advising Waste Management on its cash amalgamation with Transpacific Industries; and
- Assisting Pumpkin Patch on its capital raising and listing on the New Zealand Stock Exchange.
